Building Your Income with Blogs

Blogs are an excellent opportunity to earn some cash. They are readily found by search engines and tend to get high placement in the results.  By blogging regularly and frequently (and assuming you are good at it), you will obtain a large number of followers who will subscribe to your RSS feeds to gain daily access to your writing.

The greatest element for success with a blog is to post content to it regularly. If you fail to write on an ongoing basis, you will not get a good level of traffic, and readers are unlikely to return. Frequent posting gives you the advantage of regular fresh content – something that the search engines just love.

Frequency of posting gets the attention of internet spiders that crawl the web, visiting sites that are updated often. Whenever you update your with new content, you can ping the site at a number of ping locations, attracting even more visitors to your site.  Once you have done this, you’ve created what’s known as sticky content.  Sticky content is one of the keys for a successful blog. It shows that people are “sticking” to your blog and have the interest and desire to read what you have to say.  Why do you think people are more likely to follow a blog rather than a website?  Because as the content continues to change, so does the readers desire to want to read it!

Another factor for blog success is to ensure your blog is consistent.  For example, if your blog is about fishing, then the vast majority of your postings (if not all) should be about fishing.  If you like, however, throughout this content you can add personal bits that are relevant to the main subject.  You could write about rivers where you have recently fished, any competitions you may have entered (and won!), or share the story of the biggest fish you have ever caught.

If you sell a service, blogs are ideal for promoting it. Perhaps you are an artist or decorator who paints.  Your blog can be used to inform readers (both current and potential customers) of your future availability for work, the places your work can be viewed, and/or specials you are currently offering. You may wish to take pictures of your work and post them on your blog for added attention.  It’s critical that when using a blog to generate income, you must make a commitment to invest the time required to grow and nurture it. Post often, keep it current, and do not give up on it!

Blogs that belong to others can often offer several ways of selling your products or services. You can place text links within the other blogs content, insert banner ads across the header, or even place a sidebar advertisement that gives the blogs’ owner an affiliate commission for sending a buyer to you!

Finally, be sure your blog uses a freestanding domain name versus being posted on a general blog site where you have no control over the integrity of the other bloggers.  By being on your own, you can add that personal and professional touch that further defines and shows you as an expert in your niche.

Remember that your blog is the sign to your business. The only difference is that it’s easier to find by a lot more passersby!

Have you ever seen a PhD for Internet Marketing?  Probably not.  That’s because learning the skills required to become a successful internet market is an ongoing and continuing process. You will be educating yourself and absorbing whatever you can find out from others.

Probably the first thing you may learn about being an internet marketer is that the whole thing is a little big fuzzy.  The best approach is to look at what Internet marketing is not.

•    It is not about conning everyone you can.
•    It is not about finding a way to spam the world.
•    Is it not about sticking a few listings on eBay.
•    It is not about having your own web presence.
•    It is not about selling a few miscellaneous items.

In reality, Internet market is a means for marketing products and/or services over the internet in order to make money.

Here are a few of the more common Internet marketing approaches out on the web today:
•    Merchandising digital products (downloadable items, such as eBooks)
•    Marketing someone else’s goods or services for commission (affiliate marketing)
•    Selling on web site such as eBay or Amazon
•    Starting a member only site
•    Selling services online (word processing, web design, etc.)
•    Marketing items from drop shippers or wholesalers

These examples are only a tiny fraction of what is available to you.  Even as a ‘newbie’ to Internet marketing, you need not be concerned about lack of items to market.   A lot of successful Internet Marketers started without any merchandise.

Another big advantage of Internet marketing is that it does not matter if you are male or female, young or old, or even from another planet!  You simply have to have an idea and the desire to dive right in and believe it can work!

Succeeding in Internet marketing does not require you to be dodgy or dishonest.  In fact, the secret of success is quite the opposite. Beginning a reliable and honest business will quickly get you respect and build a good reputation that can carry you into the future.

Probably the best thing about Internet marketing is that if offers ways for anyone – even you – to build an empire that fulfills the hopes, dreams, and ambitions of anyone!

Do You Have a Marketer’s Mindset?

The first thing you have to do is to ask yourself if you have the ability to take ideas from conception to complete success. You can’t just start in this industry because you want more money, fewer hours, or more freedom.  To be an online entrepreneur you need to have the ability to take things to the next level.

These goals are not something everyone can achieve.  A lot may want to, but only a special few have the ability to reach this pinnacle.  However, you do need basic characteristics that are common among the best internet marketers.

First, you must be 100% committed to forgo dodgy marketing tactics.  No one great ever got anywhere by doing things that were not so great!

Next, if you’re the kind of person who likes the freedom of changing jobs when the urge arises, you’re better off keeping or having a 9-5 job.  Building a business takes a deep commitment, many hours, and tons of effort to produce results.

Can you hang tough?  There will be days when things go wrong.  Having the ability to keep going, and stay positive, is the sign of a true professional.  When things don’t work out with a business associate, partner, or even a freelancer you hired, turning a blind eye can and will damage your reputation.

The best Internet marketers are generally obsessive planners.  They plan the little everyday things to the details for a year or more down the road.   No one who is successful does anything without a plan that is always 10 steps ahead of where he/she is right now.   This is to ensure that the fewest number of “gotchas” can occur.  The more particular you are with your plans, the less chance you have of hitting speed bumps along the path.

To be viewed as a specialist in your particular niche, people need to know and think that you are confidant in your area of expertise.  Thus, your outside image – even if inside you are nervous, worried, or panic stricken – must appear calm, cool, collected, and in control.

You have to be willing to study continuously.  Why?  Those who have the willpower to keep going will overtake the people who stop or take a break. Keep up with the latest improvements and solutions in your niche area: this is the only way to keep ahead of the competition, even if you’re at the top.  As soon as you stop learning, someone new with better skills will come along.

Finally, be 100% confident in what you want and how you plan to get it.  A fearless marketer does not back off or stand down when asked by others why he/she is doing this, that or the other thing.  Simply stand your ground and stick to YOUR plan to achieve financial success (and it is YOUR plan)!

If the points above do not match the person you are, then before you start anything, you need to work on them.  Plan your road to success, become mentally prepared for all the trials and tribulations you’ll encounter along the way, and learn not only how to set goals but (more importantly) how to reach them.   That’s the ideal mindset to achieve marketing success.

If you already have an online business, then you know how important it is to get the word out about who you are and what you do.  The same is true when promoting your membership site.
Here are a few marketing strategies that you can use.  Of course, tweak these – as necessary – to ensure they fit your needs.

  1. Know your target member.  Do not assume that an area of expertise that contained x, y or z yesterday is still going to be true today.   The world changes daily – as do the needs of those who will be your members (or potential members.)   Identify exactly what x, y, and z is important to your target member right now.  Then, write your sale copy accordingly.  Make sure your “elevator speech” is succinct and to the point.  Be able to spill the beans in one sentence.  This gives a potential member the clarity to decide if your membership site is the right one for him or her.
  2. Offer Uniqueness.  Interest dies when content is just the run of the mill stuff we have all seen before. Give your members new twists to fix that same old problem they continue to have.   Beef up the content on your web site with interesting bits that will entice visitors to stick around and find out more.  Plus, you’ll be giving the search engines something new and different to rank.
  3. Network with Anyone and Everyone.   You must network, network, and network some more!  Go wild here and think outside the limits of that comfy box.  Start your own blog.  Guest blog for others.  Get invited to speak on radio shows.  Offer free reports.   Share your knowledge on forums.  Post a video on YouTube.  Tweet until your little beak falls off.   Spread the word far and wide about what you can offer and why people simply must get on your bandwagon!
  4. Pay Others.  No need to go it alone on the recruiting road.  Offer to pay others (as affiliates) to bring members to you.  In fact, encourage your own members to recruit their family, friends, and anyone they know to become a member as well.  Money talks – no matter who you are.
  5. Try before you Buy.  Free trial memberships are a great thing. You can offer a trial period to those who taken an action – perhaps signup for your newsletter, attend a teleseminar, or whatever.   Give trial members limited for a set time to show that the cost spent is far less than the benefits received.

These are just a few of the ways in which you can draw members to your site.   In reality, nothing is off limits because – after all – this is your site and the Internet puts everything and everyone within your reach!

Cash-Generating Keyword Research

If you want to succeed in an online business, choosing keywords and phrases is a critical step to take.   No matter what your internet marketing strategy – whether it is blogging, pay per click, VRE, or Google AdWords, keywords are king.  Quite literally, they are the difference between success and failure.

Why are keywords so vital?  Primarily, you want them to drive traffic to your web site and – if you chose your keywords wisely – it will be targeted traffic.   With the wrong keyword choices, you may end up getting little or no traffic.

Since targeted traffic is your goal (as this brings the greatest number of potential buyers to your web site), keywords still continue to be the best method of getting the highest quality traffic you can.   For example, suppose you are selling Dalmatian puppies.  With the phrase, “dogs for sale,” you could get thousands of visitors but with no assurance that any of them are seeking puppies of the Dalmatian type.  Instead, if you use the phrase, “Dalmatian puppies for sale,” the number of prospective buyers is going to be quite high – maybe even close to 100%.   Yet why such a stark contrast?   Because “dogs for sale” is too broad a term.  Those searching with that term may just be browsing, others may be looking for dogs vs. puppies, and still others may be competition as they have a dog of their own to sell.   Even using the phrase “Dalmatian” would not garner the best results.  Ever heard of a movie called, “101 Dalmatians”?

No matter what you are looking to do for your niche – whether it’s selling eBooks, affiliate marketing, or gathering data to build your list – this same keyword approach can (and should) be used.

Let’s assume you have chosen a niche market you want to promote.  Now you need the right keywords for that market.  WordTracker is an excellent tool for assisting in your keyword research. They have a free version you can access at http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com.  Google also has a keyword tool.  However, it’s a bit more hit and miss.  Results are displayed as a colored bar and not specific numbers.  Follow this link to take give it a try:  https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal.

These tools are quit simple to use.  Enter a general keyword and let the tool generate you a list of related words.   In fact, you may even find some keywords that you never thought of!  Plus, you’ll find phrases that you can use in conjunction with individual keywords, creating what’s known as a “long tail” keyword.   If you spend a little time working with either tool, you’ll soon become an expert at finding relevant keywords for any niche.

Once you have determined your ideal keywords, use those keywords for (a) your domain name, (b) your email address, (c) the title of any article or blog post you write, (d) scattered throughout any content you submit (e.g., in postings in forums), and/or (e) in your signature line.  If you opt to use PPC (pay-per-click) advertising, your keywords are the main ingredient that helps you ad to become a profit winner.

The terms “keyword” and “cash” go hand-in-hand when it comes to making money online.   When you’ve picked the right ones, you can sit back and watch the money come to you!

Increasing Home Office Productivity

If you decide to start a home-based business, you need to keep the following important factors in mind when setting up your home office.

Location:  First, if you are going to use part of your home as an office, then you must actually work in your office.   Treat your home office as you would an office you would go to each day.  Be professional, bypassing the opportunity to slack or lounge around.  (You won’t make money by watching TV or sitting by the pool all day.)

Just because nobody is looking over your shoulder, this is not a green light for you to run amuck.  Use common sense and discipline to maintain the office environment, while giving yourself a little slack to enjoy the fringe benefits.
Design.

Next, you’ll want a viable design for your home office.  This may sound silly, but you do not want to end up in the utility room with a washing machine running while you are working (or talking on the phone).   Decide where in the house your office will be based.  If you have a spare room, the decision is probably quite easy.  However, if there is no spare room available, then you need to get creative.  The space you choose needs to be in an area where you are not likely to be disturbed constantly – e.g., the corner of the TV room or in the kitchen are not your best choices. You must be away from both distractions as well as the urge to work all the time.

Your office should really be “out of sight, out of mind” so you maintain a work/life balance.
Organization.  Once you’re selected a location, decide how to get the maximum the usable area. It must be easy to keep tidy and organized, have places for important files and documents, and facilitate security (from dogs, kids, or even burglars).   Again, your home office should be no different than a traditional office.

Schedule:  Now that you have your office ready to go, you’ll want to develop a schedule and stick to it, whenever possible.  Yes, working from home does give you some luxuries, like picking up the kids from school and bringing them home where you can continue to work.   Yet it also opens the door allowing you to deviate from the plan.  Maybe you think you’ll get dinner started a little early and come back to finish that project later.  Are you sure?  Maybe you’ll run to the store and quickly take advantage of that sale on new shoes.  That won’t take long, will it?  It starts as something small and before you know it, you’re running out the door and your schedule has flown out the window!

Balance:   A lot of people believe working from home is easy, or not as difficult as working in an office.  How wrong they are!  You must have greater determination when working from home to avoid being pulled into family interruptions, bypassing the inclination to do personal items on “company time” per se, etc.  Your goal is to find a good balance between work and play (and this applies no matter where your office is located).

Priorities: You need to prioritize your tasks.  The trick is doing that when you do not have someone prodding you along with fixed deadlines.  The only person who makes the decisions is you.   A good way to prioritize work is to separate tasks into two categories: those that make money, and those that don’t.  While both category of items need attention, obviously the “paying list” is where you will want to focus the majority of your time.
Break Time:   A major misconception home-based business owners make is thinking they will now have time to take breaks (eating lunch, exercising, etc.) – something they never did their 9-5 job.  The opposite is actually true.  By running your own business, and bringing in your own income, your inclination will be to work all the time.  You’ll forget to eat, you’ll forget to rest, you’ll forget to exercise and before you know it, this grand idea of yours has run you into the ground.  Again, strive to find balance.

Being the owner of your own business can be very rewarding – personally and financially.   However, it’s the other little things that make up that business that can sneak up on your and derail all those dreams of a lifestyle of riches.

Increase Your Business with a Blog

A blog can help you while you are running your own business. It can be a great way to aid in the success of your website. It gives readers new information about your product, and it can be the way to bring in new visitors. Without a doubt, it is a business tool that easily updates your web presence with, hopefully, new information that keeps your readers coming back time and again.
There are many great reasons why you should include new content on your site.  Mainly, it’s to increase the web sites appeal to the search engines that determine web site rankings (yours and every other web site out there).   A blog allows the search engines to see that you have new, relevant and exceptional content.  With optimized content, you will be able to climb your web site in the rankings, placing you among the top choices.  The higher the ranking, the easier it is for potential customers to find you.

  • Fill your blog with things that are applicable to your niche market or target buyer.  Blog content updating builds trust and credibility in your product, and allows your knowledge to shine through establishing you as an expert.  By providing this essential information to both current and potential customers, you maintain a continual flow of interest.
  • Here are a few points about blogging software.
  • Most blogging software offers word processing, archiving, RSS newsfeeds, data storage, and search features.  By having all these components as part of the blog software, the learning curve is cut substantially.
  • In most cases, you can customize your blog. This gives you the ability to add/remove features, enable/disable settings, and control how readers of your blog can interact with you (e.g., if they can/cannot leave comments), and select a theme befitting of what you do.
  • There are two main types of blogging software: hosted or integrated.

Hosted blogs are those such as Wordpress and Blogger.  These are websites that host your blog for free. All your blog information is held and stored by the software company.  Your blog address is issued by the company and includes their name and some personal identifying extension (e.g., yourname.wordpress.com).  This type of blog is a great option if you have limited funds while starting up.  The down side is that it is not connected with a web site you may already have.

Integrated blogs provide you software that you install and manage yourself on your own web site.  This is ideal when you want to have a unique domain name for your blog, want to tie it in with the look and feel of your existing web site, and have more control over functionality.   This type of blog does cost you money, although not any more than what you are paying to host your web site.

Any good Internet marketing plan should include a blog as a viable tool.  It allows you to easily update customers and other interested parties on what is happening with you and/or your product/service, it allows fresh content to get you higher rankings in the search engines, and it helps you build a connection with your blog visitors, earning their trust and loyalty.   All these add up to a business blog that can deliver a substantial financial return.

Avoiding Information Overload

Options, options, options.  Having an endless array of opportunities is one thing.  However, when those opportunities come with a huge learning curve, it’s easy to become overwhelmed, frustrated, and confused.  Combine that with being a product owner and an affiliate (or any number of other things), and you have entered the world of information overload!

This happens to all new internet marketers at some time or another.  You’re suddenly thrust into an environment where everyone’s opinions differ and you don’t know where to start!  Some “experts” say to use article marketing, while others really push social marketing, and still another group swears that pay-per-click campaigns are the only way to go.

When you have all these choices, you become the hamster stuck on the wheel, going around and around and getting nowhere.  Your first step is quite simply this: take a breath, calm down, and remove the pressure.  Now, turn on your logical brain and ask yourself, “Is this information going anywhere?  Will it fall off the face of the earth tonight, tomorrow, next week, or even next year?”  The answer is no (and if it does, that’s one less thing on your plate, right?).

Have you heard the saying, “How do you eat an elephant?” and the answer being “One bite at a time.”  That needs to be your mantra.  Choose one aspect of your internet marketing and learn about that first.  Perhaps you want to advertise on Google.  Great.  Then learn about Google Adwords.   Educate yourself on this topic so that the knowledge you acquire is useful for the money making endeavors you’re undertaking right now, as well as being useful for whatever comes your direction in the future.

Also, be sure you make choices that are appropriate for where you are with internet marketing plan right now.  For example, if you have zero dollars because you’re just starting out, then you probably won’t want to spend your time learning about Google Adwords as it requires money!   Instead, learn about something that fits in with where you are today in the growth process.

You should also bypass the guide that tells you how to do everything.  It’s simply going to be too much information to digest.  Instead, invest in smaller, bite-sized chunks of information – e.g., if you want to start a free blog, then learn about how to do this successfully and launch a blog.

Over time, you’ll find that you’ll naturally move into the next area of your plan – whether it’s product creation or selling on eBay.  The key is to keep moving forward, and not get stuck in a rut by having too much information to take in and/or too many choices to make – all at the same time.

planningWondering about what a membership websites are and how to create one? Of the many internet business opportunities, websites with membership are the trendiest on the Internet right now. It is so easy. In fact, you can start your own website and earn from your members every month.

What are the Advantages of Membership Websites?

There are many benefits to be had once you have a membership website. In fact, it is probably the most ideal business since it has the following advantages:

•    You get a monthly residual income – This means if you sold a single product, you get paid over and over again. This is so much better than starting each month all over again.

•    Passive cash flow – As mentioned above, the income keeps coming. You work hard on one product and you get paid many times more.

•    Each customer has a very high value – With just a few members, you have the chance to earn a lot. A $37 membership fee from a single customer will accumulate each month as more becomes a member of your website.

•    You can outsource the business – If you do not have enough time to work on the website yourself, you can outsource 100% of the business. Especially when your membership websites are already up and running, you can count on outsourcing to do the job for you.

•    You do not need expertise or experience – There are lesser risks in this business since the investment is not that big.

•    You can act like a professional – You only need to research about dog breeding to have good contents about it. It does not necessarily require you to have a degree in veterinary medicine. Same is true with other topics or products that you are trying to sell in your website.

•    It is a very sellable business – This means you will not run out of income as long as you get the site running.

What you should consider before you start the business

-    What is your site about? What are your topics? Who are your customers? What is your target market?
-    Can you keep up with the subject? Is your topic interesting enough for you to keep working on it?
-    Who will write the content? Do you have enough time to write the contents yourself?

Three Basic Steps to Start Your Membership Site

-    Buy the software – These are tools that will help you gain traffic to your site.
-    Write the content – You have to make sure you are writing for your readers and not for the search engines. The income comes from the members not with the amount of traffic you get.
-    Find your Customers – Know what they are passionate about. Appeal to them the same way television advertisements appeal to the viewers. Be aware of the power of suggestion. This makes a successful online business.

Membership websites can help you earn extra funds without you exerting too much effort to it. What you need to have is patience and the drive to succeed on this venture.

idea1Niche research is a crucial step when setting up any kind of business as it helps you make your marketing techniques more focused. In the context of online business, it is also considered the backbone of marketing. It should help you find potential leads you can convert easily to loyal clients. This step, however, is not easy, and one mistake in this process can spell an ultimate disaster.

To learn how to find a sure market and succeed in an online venture, it is not just necessary to know how to learn the right process of niche research. It is also equally important to know the niche research mistakes to avoid. Here are some of the things you can commit that will definitely spell disaster:

1.    Wanting to venture in so many niches. When you are still starting an online business, this could be a recipe for your failure. Having too make niches in mind would only result in failure as it would require a lot of work and end up with no good results.

You can definitely save time, energy and money if you just simply focus on one niche. If the products you are offering are best for teenagers, then concentrate advertising your products to your target market. Marketing your products to people that don’t need your products would just be a waste of energy and time.

2.    Selling what is not the trend. The markets are very volatile and perhaps what is constant in any industry is change. If you do very poor niche research, you may end up selling products that are not in-demand, that do not sell, and that people no longer need. To find the best niche in which you can make money easy, keep yourself updated of the trend by reading books, joining forums and seminars related to your industry, and by surfing the net.

3.    You have no idea who your competitors are. Knowing your competitors is one of the best traditional business strategies. In an online business where you will have to compete against millions of businesses, learning who your competitors are is very important so you would know what makes their products or services better than yours or your products better than theirs. This should help you improve your weaknesses and even strengths.

Knowing who your competitors are is not enough, though. You should aim to get past your competitors, offer products better than theirs, and be the top company in your chosen niche.  While committing the said niche research mistakes spell an ultimate disaster, doing the process carefully and correctly can be really rewarding.
