So you’ve taken the time to make some strong professional contacts, and cultivate good relationships with them. That’s great, but where do you go from there? How can your network help you succeed? Let’s take a look at a few ways you can tap into your professional network.

Before your network can work for you, they have to know a little bit about you, what you have to offer, and what you might need, and you just can’t rely on business cards alone to get all of that information across. Consider printing out some A4 leaflets about yourself, what you do, and what you need. On it’s own, a leaflet like this might just get tossed aside, so be sure to hand them out only when it’s appropriate. If you’re talking to a contact about business, hand them a leaflet. If you’re talking to a contact about fishing, save the leaflet for another day.

Whether you’re telling them about yourself in a leaflet, an email, or a conversation, there are two crucial things you need to convey. They need to know what you do, and what you need. Tell them about yourself, your background, and the services you offer. Be sure to be clear and concise when describing what you do, and what it means for your clients. If they have a clear picture of your offerings, they will be more likely to take you up on them, or refer you to a friend. When telling them about your needs, be sure to tell them exactly what you’re looking for and why. If they can’t help you, they might be able to refer someone who can.

It’s also a good idea to get a clear picture of their needs. If you can’t help them, someone in your professional network might be able to. If you send work to your contacts, they’ll be more likely to reciprocate, so don’t ignore your network’s needs, even if you’re not the one to fill them.

It probably goes without saying, but you should also make sure they can contact you easily. Make sure your contacts all have your up to date contact info, otherwise all of the other information you gave them, and got from them  might just go to waste.

If you communicate your needs, and your offerings to your professional network, and keep their needs in mind, you’ll be able to take advantage of all of the benefits a good set of contacts has to offer. Put yourself out there, and you’ll see the rewards sooner than you think.

Grow, And Keep A Good Attitude

If you read this site on a regular basis, you know why a positive attitude is essential in order to succeed with your own online business, but do you know how to cultivate that attitude? There a re a few steps you can take to grow your positive attitude when you’re first starting out, or even if you just need to remind yourself to stay focused later down the line.

Think about what you love about your business. What made you choose that particular business in the first place? What pleasant surprises has it shown you over time? Even if you’re not in a niche that is directly related to one of your personal hobbies or interests, there are still probably aspects of your business that you find appealing. When you’re first starting out, or even if you’ve been at it for a wile, try to focus on the things you like about your business when you’re faced with challenges.

Always try to keep in mind the long term benefits of your business. Think about what success will mean for you over time. Maybe you’ll be able to afford a new house, or a new car. Maybe you can take your family on a nice vacation. There are any number of positive benefits to having a successful business, and keeping them in mind can help you make it through the long hours and late nights you’ll face when starting a successful business.

It’s also important to clearly define what you consider “success”. Make sure to set a reasonable goal for yourself. It’s easy to get overwhelmed if you set an unrealistic goal for yourself. Over time you’ll begin to see your deadline for that goal approaching, and become intimidated by the gap between where you are, and where you want to be. Instead, consider setting a series of attainable goals for yourself.  Instead of setting a large goal for your first year’s profits, set goals for the first month, the first three months, the first six months, and then the first year.

By keeping all of these things in mind, you will be better equipped to meet the challenges of starting your own business. Everything mentioned above can even help you out if you’ve hit a  rough patch with your business and things aren’t going according to plan. Working to keep a good attitude will enable you to work toward a successful business.

Product Ideas Fit For Anyone

Depending on your niche, some information products might not work well for your audience. There are, however, a few types of report that you can apply to just about any niche. Let’s take a look at a few of them.

How-to guides are completely universal. Whatever niche you’re involved in, there’s something you can teach your readers. If your niche is pet care, you can teach your readers how to potty train their dog. If your niche is weight loss, you can teach your readers how to lose weight fast. No matter what your specialty, you can teach someone how to do something.

Creating a report around a piece of current news in your niche works well. If your readers are passionate about your niche, they’ll want to know about current events that relate to it. By putting together a report that offers in depth coverage on some recent piece of news related to your niche, you can attract a lot of readers, especially if you’re quick to bring your product to market before your competition does.

Ten minute guides make for great products. A ten minute guide should cover a topic in a brief way so that the reader can take it all in, and learn something quickly. It’s not intended to be heavy on details, just to give your reader a strong overview of a topic from start to finish.  For example, a ten minute guide to potty training your dog wouldn’t include all the details about what to do if your dog didn’t respond well to the training, just a quick overview of what steps are involved in potty training the dog.

No matter what your niche, things can go wrong. That’s why survival guides tend to sell well. Pick a possible problem that might scare your audience a little, and create a guide for how to survive that problem. For example, a report titled “How To Survive Bankruptcy” would sell well.

All of these examples could be applied to just about any niche. It’s up to you to think about which one best suits your niche, and the needs of your readers. Choose the right type of report for your niche, and you’ll be sure to generate a good number of sales in no time.
