Tips For Finding Your Market

Some people already have a niche they’re passionate about, but most people don’t walk into online business knowing what niche they’re going to market to. So how do you pick a market when you’re in that situation?

The most important thing to remember when finding your market is that it should be a popular, evergreen market. In other words, there should always be someone you can sell your product to. If you’re selling a consumable product that people will buy repeatedly, or a non-consumable product that new people will be interested in over time, you’ve found an evergreen market. A good example of a consumable product that will generate repeat sales would be vitamins. Once the bottle is empty, if the vitamin had the desired effect, the customer will very likely buy another bottle from you.  A good example of a non-consumable product with a revolving door audience would be a pregnancy book. As someone gets pregnant for the first time, they’re going to look for books and other products to help them through the pregnancy, and that’s where you come in.

A good market is one made up of customers looking for the answer to a question or solution to a problem. Try to pick a market that is looking for a solution to a clearly defined problem. In the examples listed above, there’s a clearly defined question or problem. For a customer looking to lose weight, diet pills represent a quick solution to their problem. For a woman who is pregnant, a book that walks her through the stages of her pregnancy answers a specific set of questions.

One other important thing to keep in mind is whether or not your market has, and is willing to spend money. Your target market needs to be willing and able to buy your product.  Otherwise, what’s the point in selling it? When considering tapping a market, think about their income level, the cost of your product, and the level of demand for your product. If your market wants your product, and they can afford it, you’re in the clear.

Picking the right market is the first step on the road to success. By doing some research, and picking a market that suits your unique skills, and the products you can offer, you can give your business a solid foundation on which to grow.

The Right Attitude Is The Key To Success

Whether you’re launching a new website, or trying to sell an ebook, going into things with the right attitude is essential. There are a lot of challenges associated with running an online business, and it’s very important to know how to handle those challenges when they come up. Your attitude can make the difference between success and failure.

It’s important to go into business in a niche you’re passionate about. If you have a strong passion for your niche, and your products, that passion will push you through hard times, and it will help you put in the hours necessary to get your business off the ground. Starting a new business requires a lot of effort. You’ll find yourself doing research instead of enjoying leisure time, and squeezing in an extra hour of work before bed. If you’re passionate about what you’re doing, it will be much easier to commit yourself completely to those tasks.

It’s also very important to remember to stay positive. Even the best laid plans can hit snags, and it’s not only possible, but likely that you will run into some troubles at some point while launching your business. It’s important not to let these troubles bring you down, and make you stop working on your project. It’s also likely that you will run into someone (very likely a friend or family member) who is going to tell you that you are completely crazy for going into business for yourself. Don’t let them convince you that your new online business isn’t worth pursuing. Just because they don’t see your vision, that doesn’t mean it’s flawed.

It’s important to set goals for your business every step of the way, and the right attitude can help you meet those goals. If the deadline for a particular goal is coming up, and that goal seems out of reach, you can’t let yourself get discouraged. If you find yourself with a looming deadline on a goal, and you’re not sure if you are going to get where you need to be, keep a positive attitude, and try and figure out a solution to your problem.

The right attitude can make every aspect of your business easier. Dealing with problems, meeting goals, and staying on track in the face of adversity all require the right mindset. Stay focused, stay passionate, and you’ll see your new business grow into the success you know it can be.

Be Successful With Your Online Business

Success with an online business is hard won. Things are tough right now, and it takes the right kind of person with the right kind of attitude to get an online business of the ground, and make it profitable. There are a few key things you need to keep in mind if you want to have a profitable online business.

First, and probably most important, you have to be passionate about your business. If you don’t have a strong desire to see your business thrive, then it won’t, it’s as simple as that. If you’re passionate about your work, you will spend more time thinking about it, and you’ll work harder to find new ways to make it grow and thrive. The people you work with, and any people that work for you will also see that passion, and it will have a positive impact on how they treat you and your business.

Passion will only carry you part of the way. To succeed, you’ll also need to have specialized knowledge in your niche. Most topics are well covered online at this point, and in order to stand out from the crowd, you will need to have some knowledge or skills that your competition doesn’t. If you’re not a master of your chosen niche, you won’t be able to provide a unique, and enticing product to your audience.

It’s also important to set goals for your business, and take the steps needed to get to them. Be sure to set realistic goals for your business. Don’t start a business this month, and set the goal of making a million dollars for next month – chances are, that just won’t happen no matter how passionate and knowledgeable you are. Once you have your goals set, you have to maintain the decisive attitude needed to reach them. You have to be able to look at your situation, and decide what steps need to be taken to get from where you are to where you want to be. Decision making skills, and critical thinking are extremely important when setting, and meeting your goals.

By getting yourself into the right mindset, you can give your online business a strong chance at success. Remember to stay passionate even in the face of adversity. Don’t underestimate the value of specialized knowledge, after all, it sets you apart from the crowd. Set yourself some goals, and work hard to stick to them, and at the end of it all, you’ll find yourself in charge of a successful business.

Tips For Increasing Your Profits

So you have an ebook, report, or mini guide written and ready to sell. Now it’s time to plan your marketing and pricing strategy so that you can make as much money as possible on your product.

First thing’s first: take a look at the competition. See who’s selling similar products and what they’re charging, and determine the average price range for products similar to your own. You probably don’t want to exceed your highest priced competitor by too much, if at all. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t price your product toward the top of the existing price range. Never, ever underestimate the association most people make between price and quality. Many people assume that a higher priced product must be better than a lower priced one.

One other important thing to keep in mind when picking your price is the way people think about spending limits. Customers often set themselves round number budgets. In other words, they are willing to spend up to, let’s say, $20 on a particular purchase. Not $15, or $18, but $20. That being the case, if you feel like $15 is a fair price for your product, consider going up to $19.

Now that you know what you’re charging for your product, it’s time to figure out how to justify that price in the eyes of the customer. Position yourself as being unique for one reason or another. If you’ve written an ebook about internet dating, position yourself as an internet dating expert. If you push titles and terms that imply you know more than anyone else about your topic, you’ll be able to set yourself apart from the crowd, and make your products more desirable to your customers. If your customers see your products as being more valuable, they’ll be willing to pay more for them. You can also up the customer’s perceived value of your product by throwing in bonuses with it. If you’re selling an ebook, consider throwing in a short report on a related topic for free. The customer will take the free report into consideration when choosing between your product, and someone else’s.

By taking the time to do a little research, and by working to show the customer the full value of your product, you can charge a little more, and bring in more profits. The best part is that as long as the customer is satisfied with their purchase, they’re likely to buy from you again.

Make Money Using OPC

Selling OPC, or Other People’s Content, can make you a fair amount of money without costing you a lot of time. There are a few important things to keep in mind before you jump in.

Private Label Rights, or PLR is a type of content that you can purchase, and use as your own. You can purchase everything from articles, to audio files, to video files. Each publisher provides different rights with their PLR content, but most of the time, you’ll be able to add your own name to the content, rewrite it, break it up into pieces to publish over time, or even just publish it as is.

There aren’t a lot of high quality PLR content providers out there, but they do exist. Try searching “purchase [insert your niche here] PLR articles” and see what comes up. Chances are you’ll turn up at least a few results, and it’s just a matter of sifting through them to find the best fit for your needs.

Once you have found some high quality PLR content that suits your niche, it’s time to decide exactly what to do with it. Often times, with just a few simple rewrites, PLR content can be made to fit multiple niches. You can quickly and easily take a piece of PLR content, and turn it into several different ebooks that you can then sell to several different groups of consumers. For example, an article on saving money could be reworked to appeal specifically to working moms, or college students. You’ll have to rewrite some parts of the article, and maybe even alter, or completely remove a few parts of the article, but in the end, you will wind up with a product you can sell to several niches.

You can also take your PLR content and turn it into a physical product. Most consumers see physical products as having a higher value than digital ones. By producing an actual book instead of just an ebook, you are opening yourself up to a whole new set of customers, and the best part is, you can charge them more than you would have for the digital version of the same product.

With some quality PLR content, and a little effort, you can create a product with broad reaching appeal. By taking the time to work with the content, you can make it work for a wide variety of niches, and attract an even wider variety of customers. The best part is, you will save an incredible amount of time by not writing the content yourself, and after all, time is money.

Create A Better, Profit Pulling Report

Information products like ebooks and how-to guides can be a great way to make some money over time. If you’re thinking about creating a report of some sort, there are some things you should take into consideration before you dive in.

The first, and possibly most important step is to determine what questions you’re going to answer for your readers. If you’re already active in your niche, take a look through e mails you’ve received in the past, and see what questions people ask you most often. If you don’t get a lot of questions in your inbox, take some time and do a Google search for the topic you want to cover. generally speaking, the stuff that comes up at the top of that search is the stuff people are looking for. See what questions relate to those results, and make a note of them.

People love shortcuts. If you’re having trouble figuring out what topic to cover in your report, try coming up with a quick way to get a task done that your readers might not know about. Something along the lines of “Shortcuts to Potty Training Your Poodle” would work well, because potty training a dog can be a daunting task. Anything that makes that task easier is going to appeal to someone with a poodle puppy.

Now that you know what you’re writing about, it’s time to think about how to put it together. Use checklists, and step by step guides whenever possible. People want information that’s easy to consume, and checklists and step by step guides are a great way to provide easy to consume information.

While you’re working on your report, try to keep the reader in mind at all times. What benefit is reading this report going to have for the reader? Is it going to save them time? Help them make money? Keep those benefits in mind as you’re presenting your information to the reader. If the benefit for the reader is saving time, the over all flow and feel of your report should reflect that.

By carefully considering your niche, the reader, and their needs, you can create a solid report that will generate revenue for you over time. If you can help your readers to better their lives, save time, or make money, you can generate strong sales not just for the report in question, but all of the products in your catalog.

Create A Mini Course

A min course is a guide intended to teach the reader the basics of a particular topic. A mini course can be a great way to generate some profits, either by selling it as an ebook, or by using it to generate attention for another product you offer, such as a book, or a more detailed training course.

The first thing you should do is decide on a topic. Think about what questions readers in your niche might have, or what problems they might want to solve, and use what you come up with to pick a title. There are a few title formats that seem to work well for mini courses. Titles like “How to Make Money Online” or “7 Ways to Make Money in Real Estate” are good examples of titles that work well for mini courses.

Now that you know what kind of mini course you want to create, and what you plan on titling it, it’s time to think about the benefits of your mini course. Pick five to seven benefits this mini course will give the reader. Each benefit you choose will be a separate lesson in the mini course, so try to pick things that can be expanded on. A mini guide about investing in homes that need to be fixed up could include lessons like “learn how to get started with limited funds” and “learn how to generate income from a fixer-upper”.

Now it’s time to produce the actual content. Each lesson should be around 500 words long. Be sure to cover any questions the reader might have in each lesson, and make sure the lessons are easy to understand and follow. Once you have the lessons together, give each one an introduction. The introduction doesn’t have to bee too long, just a brief paragraph covering what the lesson is going to teach.

All that’s left to do is put it all together into one document. You can also add a call to action at the end of the guide. Let your readers know what they should do next after they’ve completed all of the lessons in your guide. This is a great opportunity to push another product or service you offer. For example, if you’ve written a book about real estate, your call to action at the end of the mini guide could encourage your readers to go out and pick up your book to learn more.

A properly structured and formatted mini guide can help you drive sales to another product or service, or it can stand on it’s own as an ebook. Just follow the steps outlined above, and you’ll have a strong mini guide that can help increase your profits.

Build A Better Membership Site

Launching a successful membership site can be tricky. Fortunately, there are a few steps you can take to ensure you will gain, and retain new members on a regular basis.

People join membership sites because they’re looking for answers to certain questions, or solutions to certain problems. The first thing you need to do is identify what questions you’re setting out to answer, or what problem you’re setting out to solve. In other words, identify your audience. Once you have a clear idea of who your audience is you will be able to figure out how to market your site, and how to present the information on it so that it will appeal to your target audience. A site dedicated to weight loss, for example, should talk heavily about the weight the user will lose if they follow your program, and how quickly they’ll lose that weight. By identifying your audience and the problem they want to solve, you can figure out how to present your site to them in an appealing manner, and as a result, entice them to sign up.

Once they’re signed up, it’s important to feed them the information you have to offer in the right way. Be sure to drip feed them the content so that they see that their membership will continue to have value over time. Let’s look at the weight loss site example again. If you give your subscribers three new healthy recipes, and one new work out routine each week, they will see the long term value of their membership.

It’s also important to show your subscribers exactly what to do to solve their problems, not how to solve their problems. In the weight loss site example, your customers want to lose weight – that’s their problem. By telling them to work out three times a week, and eat better, you’re telling them how to fix their problem, not what to do to fix their problem. Present them with three specific workout routines, and let them know that they should be doing them on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for a half an hour, and that they should be eating the things you’re providing recipes for at dinner each night.

More and more people are getting online everyday, and they spend a lot of time looking for answers to their questions, or solutions to their problems. If you can provide some of the answers they’re looking for, you can build a successful membership site. Identify your audience, and drip feed them information about what to do to fix their problem, or answer their question, and you’ll have plenty of long term members in no time.

Tips For Successful Networking

You’re attending a business conference, when across the room, you see a friend talking to someone very influential in your field. Your friend agrees to introduce you to this influential person, and you walk up to them, shake their hand and introduce yourself. Great, you’ve got your foot in the door, now it’s time to turn your opening into a long lasting professional relationship.

The most important thing to remember is that you should set out to be their friend. If you’re looking at them the same hungry way a wolf looks at a sheep while you talk, they’re going to pick up on, and be put off by that fact. Let your business needs take a back seat to establishing a strong professional friendship. If you’re friends first, professional benefits will come later.

Before you ever ask for any advice, or help of any kind from your new friend, be sure to do something for them. As you get to know them, learn their business needs, and see if you can fulfill some of those needs. They will very likely remember your help when it comes time for you to ask them for something, and they might just be willing to do a little more for you than they otherwise would have.

As you’re doing professional favors for your new found friend, make sure to follow through on any promises you make. If they ask you for something, and you agree, be sure to deliver whatever you agreed to in a timely fashion. In fact, deliver more than promised whenever possible. A good track record of over-delivering will make your new friend a little more likely to go out of their way for you.

While it’s important to work toward building a good relationship with your new friend, it’s also important to know when to cut your losses. If you’ve been going above and beyond the call of duty for them, and they haven’t reciprocated in any way, it’s time to stop trying to impress them. Don’t go out of your way to treat them poorly, just don’t give them any sort of special treatment either. After all, business is business, don’t get stuck in a one sided business relationship.

If you take the time to cultivate a good relationship with a new business contact, the long-term results will be well worth the effort. Not only will they take care of you, but you never know who else they know that you might wind up meeting. Each member of your professional network holds the potential to aid you in countless ways. Treat them accordingly, and you’ll reap the rewards.

Creating An Online Marketing Strategy

There are a lot of advertising methods available on the internet. Social marketing, Google Adwords, viral marketing, and many other methods exist, and it can be difficult to figure out which one fits your needs.

The first step is to determine exactly what market your product or service targets. Are your customers teenagers? Elderly folks? High income? Low income? These factors (and many others) directly effect what marketing strategy you should use. For example, if your audience consists of teenagers, and twenty-somethings, a marketing campaign that leans heavily on social and viral marketing is going to be highly effective in reaching your customers. An active, and engaging Twitter account, or Facebook page is going to reach that group in a more meaningful way than a Google Ad would. Younger generations are more prone to ignoring ads, even effective ones, so dropping a lot of money on an Adwords campaign to reach them might not be worth it.

If you’re going to attempt to tackle a social marketing campaign, be sure that you do more than just post ads for your service or product to Twitter or Facebook. Your accounts on those sites should have a more human feel to them. Customers should feel like they’re interacting with a real person. If someone writes on your wall on Facebook, or @replies to you on Twitter, be sure to give them a response. Don’t get me wrong, you absolutely do want to promote your product or service, you just can’t do it in a way that feels cold and automated to the reader.

An older audience is less likely to spend a lot of time on Twitter or Facebook, but they’re more likely to click on a Google ad. If you’re going to invest in a Google Adwords campaign, be sure to do your homework before dropping the money on an ad campaign. By researching keywords and seeing which ones are over-saturated with ads, and which ones are getting a lot of searches but few advertisers you can be sure to get the maximum return for your investment. It probably goes without saying that you should also make sure your chosen keywords are directly related to your niche. If your ads are tied to keywords that don’t represent your product or service, the effectiveness of the ad will drop significantly.

This article paints in broad strokes. There are a lot of different markets out there to be tapped, and each one is going to require a custom tailored advertising campaign. The internet is flooded with ads, but if you take the time to do some research and build an ad campaign that speaks to your audience, you will see your time and effort rewarded.
